    Ok, the CloneCD 4 finally has the much requested secured audio read functions. http://cd-rw.org/software/cdr_software/cdr_applications/clonecd.cfm

    There is no documentation about the read routines, what they do and how do they perform. Has Olli (the developer) made his own routines, or has he aquired the audio read routines from somewhere? The read speed seems fairly low with CloneCD, so it is propably that serious over-reading occurs.

    Any ideas how test the accuracy of CloneCD audio read modes?

    By right-clicking the profile you can edit the settings and there is multiple choices for audio quality

    I tried medium quality, with a difficult CD : a 14 years old original with countless thin scratches.
    EAC + Hitachi GD7500 (no C2) gives consistent results though with little glitches.

    CloneCD 4 gives a little more glitches than EAC. I can't see where it reports errors. If it is in the registry window, it didn't.
    To be sure, I extracted again checking the box to stop extraction on errors.
    It was very slow (1.1 x), went until the end (therefore detected no errors) and there were many glitches.

    Conclusion : it's not secure.

    Using toshiba sd-r1202 DvD/CD-R/RW as reader/writer.
    create new profile.
    Data Read Page;
    Read Speed= MAX
    Select Subcha. Data
    Select Regen. data Sectors. (Copying mix CD)

    Audio Read Page;
    Read Speed=MAX
    Audio Extr. Qua.=MEDIUM
    Select Audio SubChan. Data
    NOT Select "Read only First sesion.

    Error Handling Page;
    Fast Error Skip Setting=ON
    NOTHING Else Selected...

    Click OK
    then go to ToolS and open up the log.

    No Problem....

    BTW With this drive and same settings w/CCD4 I was able to make a perfect 1 to 1 of the Sims Vacation.. (Safedisk Ver. 2.5)
    with no need to amplify week sectors. Mind that my HP won't do it but the toshiba will...

    Cheers

    InXS,

    Pio2001 was using a scratched disc in order to see Clone's performance. The bad thing about it is that it DOESN'T report that there has been errors.

    EAC and CDEx are more reliable.
