My Xbox was in my basement while i moved to college. now when i got it,the thing refuses to read anything. Already knowing that my warranty was void because i got it at a pawn shop a few years back, i opened it up with a buddy. First we noticed the dust... piles upon piles of it. After getting that out we cleaned every sigle part of the box including the lens, mirror, mother board. For the more sensitive parts we just used compressed air. After all of this we hooked everything back up and now it could read Audio CD's but nothing else... HELP...

Sounds like a dvdrom drive problem. If you have access to another xbox and the person doesn't mind opening it up, install the other drive in your xbox and see if it works. You can buy replacements online for about 70 bucks.

Did you use a CD/DVD rom lens cleaner? I have had luck with a cleaner. It is a DVD with little brushes on it to clean the laser. I also used a can of compressed air and sprayed it into the dvd rom while it was opened but not with the box on.
