Ok, i have a couple questions. First i soft modded my xbox, and everything was working good until my stupid brother decided to delete everything and change all the settings and play around with the files. So now i have an Error code 13 sometimes 14 when my xbox boots up. I tried to burn slayers auto installer, but when i put it in i still get the error codes. Is there anything i can do, b.c i dont have a mod chip.. its just soft modded.... I was thinking about buying an xbox switching the hard drives from my broken one and the working one, and then returning the xbox with the broken harddrive inside.. haha.. And one more question.. when i did have the working xbox all my burnt games were playing very very good, didnt freeze didnt do anything bad. It was perfect.... but when i put the same burnt cd into my friends xbox(which is always modded).. it played the game, but not very well.. i mean it like was laggy when it was playing movies, i could here it trying to read the disk really loud and then usually just went to the " disk is dirty please clean" message. Is the laser dirty? or is it the dvd's im burning games on? or what is it? THANKS ALOT...
we had a guy on here a few months back who decided to buy a new xbox and swap the hd's around and take the busted one back to the shop..... Not a good idea. The hd's are locked and if you swap them over then there will be 2 xbox's that'll not work ever again. The easy solution would be to buy a mod chip then use Slayers auto installer. Of course you will loose all the save games you already have. But thats a small price to pay to have your xbox working again.
And as for your friends' xbox... my xbox did that when I first modded with xecuter 3 and a 400gb hdd. I just flashed my BIOS (updated) and I haven't had the problem since. That's been since the initial release of the chip. It could also be the media the game was burned on. Different disc drives in xboxes take different medias better/worse than others. It worked good for you but not for his...that's something you have to troubleshoot, it could be a number of things. As for your xbox... Try to reinstall one of your dashboards. I saw you said you tried slayers but what version was it? Go for 2.6.
