i have a laptop and a pc. on both i have the kl codec pack installed. On the pc i can play asf files i download from my digital camcorder, on my laptop i cannot. when i try to play them whatever media player i use crashes. there is no error they just crash. Just wondering if anyone has heard of this before. i find it odd that it work on one and not the other with the exact same setup on both...
First thing that I would do is get rid of the codec packs. These asf's use MS MPEG-4? Windows should already come with a decoder for that. mplayer or VLC should also be able to play them back.
i would have thought so. i have been attempting to use those players to no avail. But right after i posted that thread i wen and re-installed alot of my codecs and added the wmp 8 and 9 series codecs and now seems to work great.
