The latest 5006 is NOT MV hackable. Get a copy of 0098 and hack that.

    Guitarman,

If you go to the LiteOn firmware 5006 site and after it prompts you for the "serial number", input the following:

    0104-1840-0098-B20G(xxx-xxx)

It will then download to your PC.

The file that downloaded based on the sn you gave me is LNHA1101.ES0. I ran it through the hacker and it found and hacked the MV code. It bypassed the LP code since the 5006 has LP mode already. It saved the hacked file with the same name as the original (LNHA1101.ES0). Go to my website and e-mail me from there and I will attach the file and send it back for you to try.

    Guitarman,

Yes, it does give you every indication that the hack worked (the string is changed appropriately). But, as has been commented on many forums by me and others, LiteOn has changed which byte controls MV. Everyone who has applied the hack and loaded the firmware on their machine has found that MV is still functioning (as reflected in the second digit of the new serial number in the parenthesis (000-010D) which should be '1' indicating MV is off but instead is '0' indicating it's on. I had to downgrade to 0098. Please check the LiteOn forum at CD freaks and the LiteOn UK forum for substantiation.

    Jim
