    Hey everyone,

Why do you guys even bother with DVD Decryptor? Why not just run DVD43 (from the the XCOPY Platinum RF days), which alows Nero Recode to recompile and burn the DVD?

Recode does take 1 1/2 hours in total, which I suppose is one pretty big deterrent. But is there another reason to not use DVD43 with Nero? It seems like newbies would benefit from using just 1 program for encoding and burning.

A lot of people use DVD43 and AnyDVD in the same manner as you are suggesting and like doing it that way perfectly fine. What ever works best for you I always say :) Most people like the idea of using free proggys to do there work and that may be why they like the DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter combo..

ME? I seem to get the best results using DVDFab Decrypter to rip DVD Shrink to Re-author and CloneDVD2 to burn if its a longer movie then I whip out DVDCopy3 to do the job.. but thats just me :)

I use Recode2 with AnyDVD and it has never taken this long to encode/compress and burn. Recode is a much faster program than Shrink in the encoding/compressing dept.

@arniebear, I know you use Recode 2, I was just wondering what your take is on Recode 2 and Shrink. I do not use either...only use shrink to analyze scratched disk (if Shrink can analyze then it can be read by any prog.!) Just wondering your thoughts! Thanks

The quality in Recode and Shrink is about equal, but Recode is much faster than Shrink. Shrink lets you choose quality enhancements, where if you want to do this in Recode you have to go into the regedit and manually change the setting because it defaults to sharp. Since they are made by the same developer they are similiar, but I thin Recode is just a little bit better. But it is all in what the individual prefers in how they want to burn there disks. If Shrink makes it through a disk so will Recode, as I stated the programs are pretty much the same only Recode will keep on being updated, Shrink will not. Just my opinion :)

Thanxs! I prefer Rebuilder Pro/CCE, Intervideo Copy 3, and CLoneDVD2. Occasionally I will use shrink and I do have a copy of Recode 2...just never installed it...I guess with all the other progs. I didn't see the need. Thanks again, I appreciate your expertise.
    Have a good one!

The choice is good on programs available, and it is all in what the person likes. I believe in taking the time to do backups so that they will last. DVDRB/CCE is definitely the best of the group but it does take time, something a lot of the posters do not want to invest. Sometime give Recode a try it works very well. You have a good one too :)
