    Hi,
I'm in the process of building an HT PC. I'll be connecting it to a AV reciever capable of 7.1 surround sound. I want to get a sound card with optical audio output. Will this give me true (unspoiled) optical output from my DVD drive to my reciever the same as a regular DVD player or will it be altered by the computer? Do the sound card get the audio feed from the DVD drive from the PCI slot or do the digital out on the drive have to be connected?
I was looking at the Chaintech AV-710 or a Turtle Beach Riviera. Will these card do what I want them to do? Do you recommend somthing else?
My system will be used primarily to watch TV and movies on an LCD projector. There will be very little if any gaming.
I want to get the pure digital out so that I can get rid of the separate DVD player. Will the PC give me the same resolution, 480P as a DVD player.

    Thanks
