My internal DVD drive has packed up on me and I am now using my 2 external pioneer 109 DVD writers to make copies on the fly.

The problem is that the buffer level is constantly fluctuating.

It can go to as little as 10% and all burns take ages to finish, sometimes as much as 40 mins for a complete DVD burn even though I have set the write speed to x8.

Could someone please tell me what the problem is?
