Ok Fellaz, first off, Emachine 2.70GHZ celeron, 512ddr plus a 256DDR ram with a Samsung writemaster DVD burner. ok, the Pinnacle software it came with basically was crap, but at least it would play through a movie (although it would unsync), so I got Nero Vision Express 3.0.1.4, and as much as I like Nero for burning data, im wondering why when I burn disks (memorex CD-R and imagation CD+R) that the files I have burnt (.avi) onto disk, are hit and miss, one chapter would play and the others wouldnt, testing in playback they wouldnt work. I replay on a PS2 and everytghign comes up but it seems like the burn processes are hit and miss, I had the same problem with Sonic's "MyDVD" DVD Santa seemed to work but id lost audio on a couple of movies for some odd reason.... any tips guys? I dont think its the burner, I have had some success.... is there a more stable program to use? I dont really have much else running in the back ground and the system is pretty optomised for the piece of junk it is

DVDs using Memorex DVD-R and just recently Imation DVD+R (to play on PS2) the CPU is decent and I have had recording problems on both disks, I dont think its a hardware issue becuase I HAVE had some success as well, the last disk I burnt one of the three AVI worked. the other two my PS2 said disk malfunction or unable to read disk (choosen from the main menu page) the menu page came out perfecto-mundo but as I said only one of the three movies came out, odd thing was the button clips played fine

Ok, first off, lose the memorex and the imation, as bad media outvalues a "junk" computer any day when it comes to video encoding/burning. PS2, i have found hates most memorex but loves Verbatim.

As for converting .avi to dvd-files use VSO DivxToDVD, a free version is available here at aD.

    coolio,

have you seen this problem before? I had a feeling it was the software or the disk I was burning to. I still tend to think maybe im using the wrong software, I will try that decoder though, and hey, thanks for the input. it seems that the errors I get from the PS2 have the same problem on my CPUs DVD player

Actually never had problems with certain scenes or chapters but i used to burn on dvd+r memorex, whcih would play on every dvd player including other comps, but the PS2 would give "unable to read disk". Switched media, and havent had problems yet with the PS2.

Note: If the PS2 stops reading originals or ps2 games then it is time to open it up and clean the lens.
