I'm contemplating building a system to backup dvd's record television not too much into games. I was looking at the individual parts when I came across this deal at TD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16883102640 I know I need another HD 250 gig, tv tuner card, and another 512 to 1 gig of ram. But this comes with the OS and a 17" lcd moniter for $699 no rebates. I don't think I can build it cheaper please help me out I don't know how long this will last. Thanks in advance
You could always build a PC cheaper than buying one already configured. If you truley get the monitor with that purchase at no extra charge, YES, it's a good deal. Since you'll be looking for hard drives, check out this deal: [bold]Seagate 250GB 7200RPM 8MB Buffer Hard Drive for $79.97 after rebate[/bold] http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-Details.asp?EdpNo=1265028&sku=THD-250A
r u serious, thats a crap price, try 200 for barebones kit, includes case, power, mb, cpu and fan, onboard vid/aud and nic, then 60 - 70 for 512 ddr, thats say 275, hd is like 100, so 375, and 17" for like 125 -175 on sale of course. so thats 500 -550, and remember, u never get a copy of windows from these places, its a corperate ver, so when comes time to tweak it u might get screwed. i build systems just like what u r thinking about and i forgo the lcd and go straight to tv via s-vid, saves money, (mine start at 350 for non 64, btw, why would u want 64 chip/board without xp 64?) and besides that what u want anyways right, a HTPC? dont forget shipping price to, lmao, good deal, ummmm no!
@dgib2000 You might wanna take a look at some of the TigerDirect barebone kits: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_tlc.asp?CatId=31 I know for a fact that Windows does come with quite a few of the systems advertised there. It's good you're at least asking advice, a lot of people buy on impulse.
