I'm trying to burn files from my hard drive and the Nero burning process gets real close to completion, then it says please install proper disk. I've tried Memorex dvdrw, Memorex dvd+r, and ilo dvd-r. Can someone guide me in any way?
    Thanx

Best thing to do is post your nero log to sort it all out.
    Few thoughts w/o log:
Is the movie compressed enuf to fit on the disc?
Get rid of those Memorex!!! The pits! ilo doesn't sound promising either.
Make sure you are not burning at max speed.
Make sure firmware is up to date.
Use quality media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim DataLifePlus.
Again get rid of those Memorex!

Thank you for your quick reply. As far as posting my Nero log, well I'm a bit illiterate when it comes to this sort of thing. Also you asked about comression, I'm actually just trying to download a music video, one music video that is. So it really isn't that large of a file. The Memorex dvd+rw I use only for one reason. It's the only media, that I have found so far, that is recognized through my x-box.
Thanks again and any further help will certainly be appreciated!

Not a problem. Your log should be located here:
c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log. Post the last one.
Just copy and paste from the text file. Be sure to edit out your serial # begins w/ 1A and is about 24 characters.
We gotta get you away from those Memerox and find something else your xbox likes!

Oops, I told you I'm a bit puter illiterate. I found out that when it comes to selecting the drive to be burned on and selecting the drive speed, it always says max and thats it. Could this be the problem? Also I just downloaded the free trial of Nero, could that be it? I can preview my future download, but when it comes time, it tells me that the compilation does not fit the cd i am using. Please insert one that does. Thanks Bink

Def. try slowing the burn speed down - for memorsux 4x max.Click on the scroll bar to lower next to max. For the log open the text file and copy and paste that.

    @Tomicino -

EDIT OUT your serial number from the various points in the logfile post. (use the pencil icon towards right of post)

    - Nero's too old, update to latest, 6.6.0.16 here - http://www.nero.com/en/nero-up.php

    - your burner's firmware is 3 revisions behind (out of date) - update to BS0S from here - http://forum.rpc1.org/dl_firmware.php?download_id=1934

Firmware is what teaches your burner about media/newer media/burn speeds

    - is this burner external to the PC, ie in a USB enclosure or similar ?. if it's not, ie it's internal to the PC, then try this to reinstall the 'ATAPI' drivers - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm

    - yup, Nero's too old to recognise your burner. Update Nero as previously advised.

    - hmmm, let's worry about all that later, when all your stuff's up to date

see previous comment, let's get everything up to date

    - there's a big clue - the burn is expecting a blank CD and you're feeding it a blank DVD

Okay, sorry about the last post, I think I'm all updated and ready to go. However, I'm trying to drag a dvd file, that I moved to my desktop, into a menu on Nero. What do you think would be the best menu to burn a dvd from my hard drive?

Please edit out your serial #'s in the log - there's 2 more that I can see. One at the beginning and one towards the end. They begin w/1a23.
For burning the disc you can use BurningRom or if compression is needed Recode.

In the top of the reply you posted across from the date (right hand side) you'll see what looks like a a notepad w/ a pencil. Click on that for the post you want to edit. It will reopen the post for you to edit.
Did everything finally work on your burning?

Hey I gotcha now. As far as the burning goes, well, I guess I will have to try some of the recommended media to be recocgnized through my xbox. Taiyo Yuden dvd-r's and verbatim datalife plus, does that sound about right? I got the files to be burned and playable through my computer, I will try new media for my xbox and see what happens. Thanks alot Bink, great help!!!

Hey you still have 1 serial # left in the middle - get that one too!
As for disc yes those 2 brands are the best. Don't know though if xbox prefers + or -r. Glad you got things going!
