I think I have mac OS 9. something... not quite OS X. Anyway, I've been trying for years to play avi files on my computer, but to no avail. I've downloaded software after software but nothing seems to work. Can anyone explain it to me in words I can understand? I'd greatly appreciate it.

os 9 is pretty ancient, you could try downloading the newest version of quicktime from im guessing http://www.apple.com/quicktime/ If you had osx I could send you some links, but I personally hate os 9, and am not sure what if much is compatible with os9 and X. I pulled this link out google: http://www.mireth.com/pub/mvme.html says it plays avi, I would try quicktime first. if neither work just google os9 avi or os 9 avi there's a grip of players out there. your avi file may be corrupt as well I would try it on a few platforms just in case.
