The LVW-5001 is a totally different animal .. it doesn't have the 'All Write' feature which is really handy (I use the SVCD mode for Tv shows for my granddaughters) I have two LVW-5005 recorders .. manufacture dates are June 2004 and May 2005 .. both defeat Mv with the workaround and neither have had firmware upgrades ... the May 2005 is current and starts and stops a little faster while the June 2004 seems to finalize discs faster ... What is really odd is that when I use Taiyo Yuden produced discs, that I cannot record on one recorder than finish recording on the other .. However, with Verbatim and RiDATA discs I can interchange between recorders .. They both seem to respond faster to the Verb +R discs than any other ...
What you say requarding the manufacture dates would seem to put to rest questions about any problems with an early or late model unit. I was led to the ilo by these forums and it has done an outstanding job for what I do. Gtrman/Guitarman was a great help. I found that any problems I had at first were caused by myself, Operator Error, I've tried to convay that. Give the machine a chance and learn its quirks. I would like to help others as I have been. I think I try to hard. Within a couple of weeks I switched from Maxell +R to Verbatim +RW thats about 5 mo and i've not had any problems, or with using a friends Maxell +RW disks. I did not have any problems with the +R I just liked the +RW and the fact they can be reused. AS to responce time I have not noticed sny difference.
I've had good success with the Taiwanese Maxell discs, also ... The LiteOn recorders seem to like the Taiwanese discs more than the Japanese .. Go figure
Well I just can't win RE; thread LiteOn 5006 Macrovision hack - help I thought we were having a discussion of issues presented. Now I have no perspective in the wake ot Hurricane Katrina and the homeless.
