Hi there, I'm new to recording DVDs, and just got my DVD recorder a couple of weeks ago. What I've realized is that when I try to record on a previously used DVD-RW disc, I can easily import the data to my computer (it imports as .VRO) where I can use it in TMPGEnc, and go on from there, but when I try to use a new disc (same make, same everything, just hasn't been used before), although the DVD recorder will indeed record it and play it back, the computer won't recognize the file (it'll say the disc hasn't got anything on it, or it'll say that there's no disc in the drive) and thus I can't do anything with it. I'm completely flummoxed. I have a few older DVD-RW discs that I've used before and that are working here, but I'd like to be able to buy new ones and to have a wider variety for my recording (since I tend to record everything on -RW and then decide later on if I want to save it on -R, in which case I save it through my computer). Anyone have any advice? Thanks, Jo
hi not to sure but i think you need to format the RW before use hence creating a storage facilty like a hard drive. then i think it will be seen...
It seems to be working... I'm burning just random stuff through Ulead DVD Movie Factory (which is apparently doing the formatting as part of the initial burning process), then deleting and the discs are working fine. Sure, there are a couple of discs that are goners (but I can use those just for DVD viewing/saving), but the rest seem to be salvageable. Thanks so much!
