Is it possible to import an mpeg2 into nero recode? I have a movie that's too big to fit on a regular DVD, and Nero can't seem to shrink it to one - says I need a dual layer...

There are MPEG 2/DVD and MPEG 2/SVCD plugins available, it should then work but I have not tried it. PM me if you need more info.

Yes, press "open files" when you open Shrink.

What error message do you get when you try to open it up in DVD Shrink? (word for word please)

I don't - when I browse for folder, it doesn't see mpeg2s. I.,e., a folder filled with them would appear empty.

Nero will fit it on a dvd5 for you , look in the settngs.
Usually it asks you if you want to do it when you sellect the file you want to convert.

When I try to fit say a 7gb mpeg2 on a DVD5, it says it can't reduce that much.

Re: DVD shrink, again, when I hit file, it won't see mpeg2s...

Was just told this about DVD Shrink:

No, you must import authored MPEG-2 files, in the form of IFO, BUP and VOB files into DVDShrink. It won't accept MPEG-2 files any other way.

If true, which it seems it is, bummer...

Shrink only accepts DVD files as you said, what happends when you ty to import your file into NeroVision Express? It should beable to use a lower bitrate the thus a smaller file size that will fit on one DVD-5.

This is sort of a long process, but you could convert the mpeg to VOB using VSO's divxtodvd then use Shrink to get it down to 4.3g and burn.

Nero asks if I want it to shrink it down, and then it says it can't do it.
