Has anyone had any problems with copied dvdrs rolling? Got a few dvds from a guy but the will not play in my best player. When you put the in the start rolling. Can play in another dvd player. Tried to re-copy with both shrink and decrypter but had no luck. Any idea why it's doing this? HELP!
tkghost Welcome to aD! Sounds like a media issue to me. Depending on the quality of discs and burn speed he used will affect the playback on standalones or your pc. Put the disc in decrypter to identify. Post back with the manufacturer id. The disc info will be displayed on the right hand side. Some things to try to copy (make sure you use quality media like Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim DatalifePlus): Make sure your firmware is up to date No multi tasking Here's a guide for hard to rip dvd's: http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/petesguide9.html What error did you get when trying to copy?
I agree with binkie7 on this one. It definitely sounds like media issue to me too. At what speed did you backed up on? What is the blank media that you're using to do your back up?
I don't have any problems ripping the DVD. It's when I play it. The copy I got from the guy plays in a cheap player I have but will not play in my good player. It rolls like a vhs tape that the tracking is way off. When I copy another dvd from the original it does the same thing that the original does. I want to copy it so that I can watch it on all my dvd players. I've tried every type of copy program I have but they all still roll when I try to play them. The player that it will play on will not play most of my other copies. The good player always plays my copies until now. I really have no idea what is going on. Thanks for your help!!!
tkghost If there are problems with the source dvd you are copying from there will be problems with the copy also. Sounds like a dl movie that was poor quality or it was converted incorrectly. I'm also wondering if this is a pal vs ntsc -maybe conversion - but i'm probably way off base on that one. The copy where did he get it? Download? file format? converted? Programs used? Maybe if we find out what he did there might be hope in corrected the problem.
it's been my experience that if you can rip that copy to your hard drive then you can burn it and it should play right if your other backups work! The copy you have, is it a DL or a DVD5 (single layer, 4.7G)? If it is a DVD5 you won't need Shrink.... just use DVDDecypter to hard drive and then burn: [bold]use good media (Verbatum, Sony, Taiyo Yuden, Maxell) burn no faster than 4X (this will stop errors in writing to disk) do not multi task at the same time you are burning[/bold] good luck..... post back with results!
It just will not play on that DVD player. I give up. Must be a problem with the origional. Thanks to everyone for your help. I will just have to play it on my other dvd players. Thanks again!
