I'm looking to simply play backup games on dvds, nothing fancy. I don't care about xbox live bans, a bigger hard drive, skins, ftp'ing save games, or any other repercussions of modding the deck---just to put in a backup and play by myself with a slice of serenity. I'd originally thought modding my xbox was as simple as modding my playstation 2, like ya put a disc in and it would work! . . . but I've entered the 5th ring of hell trying to get this pig to operate. Christ, my fists have never been so thirsty.

It's a 1.6, Smart XX Pro modchip installed (professionally---modchipman.) I got the crossover cable, and I think I've flashed my bios properly---whatever Xcalibur Build 3345 means at the Smart XX startup screen, and I've done the ED@ thing with the smitten penguin splash screen. But now when I choose a bank, the deck reboots automatically, but not with the original bios choice. I thought as soon as you flashed the bios, backups are supposed to boot? From what I gather, I need a dash. That or a pvc pipe and 2 minutes alone with with this plastic-covered antichrist. I can't take this frustration, and I've dated 3 neurotic strippers in my life, so I should be able to handle an inanimate object.

So really I have 2 choices, because perusing these forums for answers shouldn't take me 10 hours to find some peace so I'm done with that, plus my patience level is that of a heroin addict's sittin at a table full of methodone. I can either take my frustrations out on my current harlot of a girlfriend, who I'll admit deserves a few kicks in the spleen, or someone can email me at catharticlament@hotmail.com, ask me for my phone number and tell me how to get this done step by verbal step. I need this badly, so badly that I'll Paypal the telephone helper $30 directly after I get one of these shiny, silver dvds to run on ol Billy Gs box of eternal damnnation. I have Slayer's Evolution thing, the softmod thing already downloaded and ready for applying, I'm just sorry to say that I must be retarded by this point because I can't put this last step in. Please . . . someone . . . I'm chain smoking and seeing red, plus she'll be home soon and I don't want to go to county again.

if you have a mod chip then there is no need to soft mod ya box. If you have the Slayers Auto installer then just burn that to disk and run it on the xbox. That will install your dash and all the needed tool for copying/playing backups.

I did burn Slayers cd. Burned it to a cdr because it's under 700 meg. I don't see how one can "run it" on the xbox because if I try to even boot it by choosing "Original Bios" at the Smart XX first screen, I get the "xbox can't read this type of disc" message. ANd like I said, if I choose a bios bank to try and run the disc, the system reboots itself. What's left? This xbox crap makes me want a flame thrower for Christmas.

hmmm, shame you didn't get an Xecuter 3 ce chip. <--Those I can really help with. As for choosing a bios bank, don't they have usually have dip switches so you can choose using hardware. Maybe thats just the xecuter. not too sure as to how much difference it makes using an old bios when installing slayers. hmmmmm, you do appear to be in a bit of a shit pickle though. Try pm'ing PimpDawg, I think he uses all sorts of different mod chips. sorry I can't help more dude.
