Hi , I have installed a nero oem version suite and bought all the plugins for mp3 dvd etc , i then took the plunge and paid for a key for the full version of nero 6 , i then noticed there were updates to nero available but as im on a dial up connection and not broadband i was dismayed to find out it would take over 10hrs to download them assuming the phone company didnt boot me off the phoneline first i wasnt optimistic at a successful download, then there were the considerations of being new to nero do i if i get them remove old versions etc or upgrade over? I have emailed nero to ask but as yet no reply ,I think nero is brilliant ive left roxio after years of use so im a new convert, can i get these updates for a fee off nero any advice please

i usually have the same prob' as you....so i just pop into the local net cafe with my usb stick, pay £1 for an hour's session, download the updates and bring them home.

You can download some updates from http://www.filepedia.com which is faster than the Nero site. However, it is not all the updates so you will still have to use them. This has been a major complaint about Nero for sometime, you are not the first. Also, since you stated that you just bought Nero 6, you should know that Nero 7 will be released in mid October and since you just bought your version you should be entitled to upgrade to ver. 7 for nothing.

Hmm, I hope I don't smell an "auto-update feature" like MS uses on Windows!! You have to shut that crap off to avoid breaking working systems!!! I haven't been able to use a Nero update since 6603. I guess in just about every software stream there comes a sweet spot(if the software is any good) where you get a confluence of stability and features/speed. Then it goes downhill until it's totally broken. Time for the next major rewrite!! :)

Yeah, most software is just full of bloat then another version comes out with more bloat and on it goes. I'm a salesmans nightmare cus I'm always getting the flannel re new features in software products and my first response is how 'bout you fix the outstanding bugs first lol.

One update that I would hope is in nero 7 is to stop the damn serial numbers going in the logfiles. Anyone at nero listening I wonder

Wish they would fix that burn speed issue, and it would not always default to max, what a pain.

I wish I knew Dvd Decrypter burner actually worked. I might've found out how to format everything I need to an .iso or bin/cue and saved myself $70. ;)

I am using Nero OEM Suite. For some dvd's that i try to burn I have an illegal disc error, or burn process failed error. My firmware version for nero is A07R. I want to know if i need to upgrade the firmware, and if so how? I have a I/O Magic DVD Dual Layer Burner, I don't know how to upgrade the firware for this either. Can someone help me?
