Hi, I just wanted to let you know that we got a DVR-500 today and it's working great! Hopefully this will give hope to someone who is thinking about buying a DVD Recorder. We tried (and returned) an Ilo and Pioneer brand DVD recorders. We haven't tried playing regular CDs on it, but it is playing our Video CDs, for which I'm thankful, because we're a big fan of Asian movies. It will also play our cheapest DVDs, which some players won't. It records beautifully from both TV and VCR. We are also able to play our recorded DVD-RW on my husband's laptop. It works well with Maxell DVD+RWs.
