I have an older dvd player that is not recoginzing the disk I have created on a dvd + r. The file is showing as a dvd 9 format and I'm assuming that is the problem. Is there anyway i can change the format to dvd 5 so the older player will play???

    Thanks

If your DVD player won't play dual-layer DVD is must really be old.
Does it play store-bought movies? Sounds like your best bet is to get a new player. Figure less than $70 for a player that will play just about anything versus $30 or more for some software to fix stuff. Unless you
regularly do video conversions I'd get the player first and worry about
    conversions later. :)

Look at the book that came with your dvd player. Some of them only play dvd-r and some only dvd+r. Dvd 9 and dvd 5 are the same udf file format, they are just different kinds of disks.
