When I go to burn a back-up DVD to a -R disk my burner dosen't recognize the disk. I's as if there is no disk in. I have no problem with +-R,+RW,+R DL. The burner is a Phillips in a Dell P-4,3.0 gig.

    thomas280,

My burner is a Phillips #8601. If it ca burn all the other media types, why should there be a problem with _R disks? I am burning them only for use on older DVD players that have playback problems with the othe media types. Disk brand s don't seem to be a factor.
