Ok, your laser is having difficulty reading the game data from the disc, it can't concentrate on reading it. Your laser needs re-aligned, your best bet is sending it back to Sony to get a replacement. Alternatively go here -->

http://arstechnica.com/articles/paedia/hardware/ps2.ars

And read the guide for fixing the laser. Basically, you need to turn the little white dial which controls the laser mark, keep turning it and testing it until games start loading again. Try turning it so the laser drops, then begin turning it to a random point and testing it.

Good Luck.

Your hearing a clicking noise, The Laser arm that goes from the base of the laser to the snake motor is shot. and needs to be replaced.

make sure you know what version your console laser is to get the replacement.

the version of the console (scph numbers) this determines what laser is in the console.

Ps, the snake motor drive shaft might need to be lubbed up, that might fix the problem

I hope this helps
