When I also use shrink It says invalid access to memory location and I get the dreaded green screen with a lot of flickering which makes me think my any dvd did not decrypt it,and they may need to do a update on this new encryption.

Try to use DVD Decrypter on the Mode, File F to rip and decrypt to your hard drive. Once that process is done, open up DVD Shrink, Open Files, then just encode the movie from there and burn it with Nero or DVD Decrypter. That movie should be easy, I did "Fever Pitch and Guide To The Galaxy" without no issue whatsoever. May be you got a bad pressed (original dvd) that's all. Exchange it for another one and you'll be fine.

Either AnyDVD can't crack the code (which I doubt) or your 21 day free trial is up. If you bought Anydvd, go to the site and see if there's an update. Or you could try uninstalling and reinstalling.

Dvd Shrink is working and I bought the any dvd, when I went to shrink it said No access to specific memory which makes me believe it either a bad press or new encryption, and I am in file mode in decryptor,I have burned over 300 movies and have had little or no problem this is the first,I will take the copy back tomorrow and exchange it.

    Just a note:

When using AnyDVD, the Decrypter log will lQQk exactly like this one because AnyDVD removes any encryption found and so there's nothing for DVDD to decrypt.

When coming up against the Sony clones of ARccOS once again, there isn't any "encryption" per se, just empty files which DVDD is fully capable of handling.

FYI, The ARccOS encryption is more than 1 yr old, the newest Sony encryption is the SETTEC ALPHA-DVD, released about Jan 18th of this year. It's kind of a variation on the ARccOS. Both encryptions are easily handled by DVDD but not by Shrink.

As for your Shrink error, it can be eliminated 95% of the time by ripping your disc with DVDD in the ISO Read Mode. Then, open Shrink, go to "File" then "Open Disc Image", process as usual then burn to disc using DVDD, CopyToDVD OR Nero.

For best results, use Shrink's Deep Analysis & Maximum Sharpness settings and burn at 4X on decent media.

I also suggest that, to avoid any possibility of stopping or freezing, you change your DVD Target Size from DVD-5 to "Custom" and set the disc size to 4360 MB to keep from burning to the disc’s outer edge where the dye app may be uneven.

    Cheers,

    Pete

I am really amazed a the discussion for this disk if it is HHGttG region 1. e.g. discussion about updating/buying anydvd etc.

niether the free version of dvddecrypter, nor in fact ripping ONLLY from dvdshrink gave me any problems with this disk.

rather than recommewnding people spend money, please note whether in fact you even tried the disk.

Also those who say it worked fine with dvdshrink and decrytor are you telling us the truth? I have the latest versions and neither work for Hitchhikers...encyrption key authorization errors.
I wish everyone would be honest and just help if they can with real suggestions that work or don't reply at all.

Finally was able to decrypt Hichhikers, for some reason some of the settings in dvd decrypter had changed,I played with the settings in file mode and it worked great. There is no special encryption in this movie.Make sure you have the current version of anydvd, and the settings in dvd decrypter are all checked off correctly. Thanks to all who tried to help.

    @ ecoughli

Your comment is uninformative and unwelcome. There is no commercial DVD to date that cannot be copied including Hitchhikers Guide.

People do not need to lie - they only need to understand the processes involved in encoding and burning DVDs.

If you are having problems, you need to read some guides and have a hard look at your system, processes and media you use.

Well said, colw. I use AnyDVD, and decrypter to rip to HD and shrink/nero to encode and burn. Have yet to come across any disc I couldn't back up.

ecoughli, check out the link below to see the movies I've been able to back up successfully using these programs.

All you guys patting each other on the back is just too funny.
ANYDVD commercials are too funny as well.
For Hitchhikers ANYDVD (latest version...yeah) can't read it.
Don't waste your time or money. I have no vested interest ($) in any of these products.

I ruined three blank DVDs trying to burn Hitchiker's Guide to the Galaxy. I was using Any DVD and never had the problems before but it didn't work with this movie and yes, I have the newest version. I decided to try a free product just on the chance something else might work. DVD43 made a successful copy. If you're interested try http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/dvd_rippers/dvd43.cfm. I had to close out Any DVD to use the program but it did the trick. If it doesn't work for you, you haven't spent any money in the process. Good luck.
