    Hi there,

Please provide us with more details.

If Windows XP sees the drive, they it was probably installed properly (Hardware).

Did you install it yourself, and set it to "Cable Select" ?

    Dell likes Cable select :) I own a Dell Dimension 8400 !

What DVD burner did you buy/install ?
Do you know what firmware is on it ?

What media are you trying to burn too ?
    What's the Media ID ?

VSO Inspector v1.1 can provide this to you !
    Drive Info and Media ID..

What software/version are you using ?

I hope it's not that awfull Sonic thing :)

I suggest VSO CopyToDVD or Nero Burning Rom.

Basicly, if Windows XP see the drive, it should be able to write to a DVD media.

    Good Luck !

yes, installed myself with cable select. sees drive. plays cd's not dvd. wont accept dvd's.

    pioneer dvr-ao9xl
came with ulead, but wouldnt work with windows xp

tried to use dla, buty sometimes the discs were copied to dvd ok, but then the discs would be blank later on. then theyd work again. then not. so i got rid of dla.

trying to burn to maxwell dvd r, 4.6 mb

    yes, dla's really BAD

i know. with out dla or ulead, it doesnt do anyhting.

ill try nero and vso. guess its one or the other, not both?

also, any other applications for free? or just buy nero?

thanks for the help, appreciate your time and advice, p
