How come when I buy a cheap bootleg movie on a cheap Princo disc it plays on every DVD player? But when I burn a movie on Sony mcc it only plays on 90% of players? I am using dvd decrypter and Nero.

Maybe your burn speed is too high. You should burn at 4x or less. Also make sure your drive's firmware is up to date.

What were the formats of the discs? If the Sony is +R, maybe it isn't booktyped...

Not every burner model can booktype the plus media to dvd-rom.

What is you exact brand name and model# of your dvd writer?

    Sony MCC, Is that correct?
What is the speed rate of those sony blanks?
Are you re-ripping those bootleg movies or are these original dvds?

You can lower your burn speed through the burn settings on those programs. 4x is par for the majority of us.

You are playing backups from 2 different burners on those stand alones. I've got 5 burners and there are variations between them and my own stand alones and pc drives. 2 play everywhere- benq 1620s, the other 3 not so fortunant despite using taiyo yuden media. The booktyping helps from those 2 benq. I've encountered many stand alones with these booktyped dvd-rom backups and only 1 very old ps2 wouldn't play any of those benq for both dvd-rom and dash format.
