Greetings to you all, I am struggling to copy programs from my domestic dvd recorder, which uses ram discs, to dvd-r discs. Firstly is this possible? if so whatis the procedure,please. I've checked the guides but they don't seem to cover this. I'm pretty new to dvd so any help will be gratefully received. roy
I have no experience with RAM discs, but I would assume that you need a DVD drive that can read these discs. You have to look at specs of DVD Drives. Tools like DVDidentifier will tell you if your DVD drive can do it. If a drive can read it, then copying will be the same as a Normal DVD.
Thanks JaguarGod for the reply, unfortunately its not the case. my Pioneer 107d reads the ram disc ok but neither nero or dvd shrink can copy it. Looks like its one of those things you need to know the secret of. Thanks again.
Can you use Windows Explorer to just drag and drop the files to your hard drive? If so, then so that and you can use Nero when you are finished.
Hi JaguarGod I managed to get a copy done, but it consists of one file i.e. a qvc programme, and it will not play on other dvd players. I need to convert it to another form I suppose. Its not worth the bother, I need to leave a supply of dvd-r discs near to the dvd recorder for this, in future. Thanks for your interest Roy
If your DVD Ram TV recorder has a built in Hard Drive, you can copy the mini DVD Ram disk from a camcorder to the Hard Drive of the DVD Ram TV recorder, then copy that from the hard drive to a full sized DVD R disk. The full sized DVD R disks have to be finalized after being burned on the DVD Ram TV recorders beofore they can be played on any DVD players. DVD Ram Camcorders were manufactured along with TV DVD Ram recorders with built in hard drives to make shooting film easy and fast. You can shoot straight onto mini DVD Ram disks, put the ram disk from the corder into the player and watch on TV within 30 seconds of finnishing the shoot. You can store the film on the DVD TV recorders hard drive by selecting copy from DVD to Hard drive, then later, select copy from Hard Drive to DVD to burn a full sized DVD R disk. The DVD R disks have to be finalized before they can be viewed on other DVD players. Instructions on how to copy from DVD to Hard Drive, from Hard drive to DVD and how to finalize a disk are in the manual. The film on the Mini DVD Ram disk can then be erased so the disk can be used again. The Mini DVD Ram disks can be reused up to 100,000 times. They have been refered to more as a hard drive than a DVD.

Ayrshire and Rotary thanks for your interest, Ayrshire no,my recorder is without hd just ram disc or dvd-r thanks anyway. Rotary its a while ago , September, so I have given up with that particular programme. Keep an interest in ram recording generally. Thanks again Roy
If the ram disk that you record on your recorder eg. Panasonic DMR-ES20, is readable on your PC's DVD player/burner, then use TMPGenc to read, edit and save to DVD-R or DVD+R format. I converted all my VHS movies to DVD format (via standalone DVD recorder and DVD-Ram disk) using this software.
