My wife recently put together a movie using the Nero software and burned it onto a DVD.

The movie clips were on my desktop, but she did the work across a home network using Nero on a different desktop.

After she had burned two DVD's of the movie, I had to reformat my hard drive, so using drag and drop I backed up all the data across the network, and then reloaded it in the same folders and sub folders after the hard drive maintenance.

When she first opened the movie file on her desktop she got a "file does not appear in folder" message, or words to that effect. Nero then gave a "clearing file" message, and now, the movie seems to have disappeared.

We still have the video clips in the same folders on the desktop. So here is my main question: Is there a way to burn a copy of the movie we have on DVD and reconstruct the files in Nero?

    Thanks in advance.

This might not be the answer you are looking for but can you burn the DVD already made back to your hard drive, then open with Nero?
It sounds like you want to edit or add to it more so the same way you made the movie to begin with will work once its back on hard drive. If you only wanted to save it and not edit it than your Nero can do that too since it isn't a copy protected DVD.

Thanks. I've thought of that option, but have not been able to dig into the process myself. And when she tried it, she kept getting a message that said to insert a blank DVD into the drive. The discs she was inserting were all new and straight out of the box.

Does the DVD you already made work normally when you watch it on your computer or any TV set player? If yes I'd say pop it in yer pc, windows should ask what you want to do with the disc, cancel that. Go into windows explorer, my computer icon or the like and simply open the drive with your movie in it, find the VIDEO_TS folder and drag and drop it to your hard drive. That method works for the movies (home video of concerts my band has played) I have made with Nero and don't know why it wouldn't work for you.

If you just want more copies of the dvd, just use Nero. Open the Nero dvd section and click copy complete disc. Nero will copy it to your HD and then ask for the blank for the burn back. If your burner doesn't see the blank discs then you have other problems. Possible bad blank media, maybe it needs a firmware update, possibly a corrupt driver for the burner. Maybe go into your device manager, remove the burner drive and then reboot. Windows will reinstall the burner properly. That sometimes helps.
