Just did a firmware upgrade on my 16x burner from reveision 102 to 105 and find end results of doing recent burnering to be taking much longer. Did this upgrade with the reason that new dvd 16x disc are nowon the market and it was suggested on some data packages that firmware upgrade may be necassary. I am using nero 6.6.0.15 for burning software. Need to know if possible to revert back to a earlier version of firmware without any harm to the burner . previous burner of data dvd- were approximately 9 minutes not much longer with newer firmware 1.05 installed. any thoughts appreciated. Thanks

Hi Playpool, firmware updates sometimes causes Windows to downgrade your IDE Channels to PIO mode from DMA where they should be. Go into your device manager and check that both primary and secondary IDE controllers are set to DMA.

Just a note, Yes you can go back to the firmware you had if you like. Jerry746 is correct though. You should check in your device manager secondary IDE channel, make sure your drives are DMA not PIO.
All you have to do to go back to the firmware you had is download that file from LGs site, just flash your drive like before. But I would keep the Latest Firmware.

Thanks for tips guys yes check where you implied took a little browering but figured out what you meant, it was listed as PIO as suggested then changed it to DMA IF AVAILABLE and rebooted , checked same area and it indicates under Device 0 current transfer mode ULTA DMA MODE 2, what is the other section under Device 1 indicating current transfer multi-word DMA MODE 2 imply?
Thanks for replies will retry burning process tomorrow night getting late here now.
