    Im going to buy a philips dvd recorder with hard disc drive. Im wondering can I connect it to vcr to copy vhs to hdd then copy that to the dvd.plus are there copy protections on the recorder?
    Also can I put a dvd into the recorder and copyto the hdd

     In both cases you will run into a Macrovision (copy protection) problem .. I'm not sure if any hacks are available for Phillips
