Hi, glad I found this forum. I have a question, and maybe it's been answered already, but I'll ask again. I'm on my second Sony DRU-720A Dvd burner, and it's been working well for about 4 months burning dvds for me, but as of yesterday it started giving me trouble. When writing the dvd with nero, the buffer speed jumps from like 99% to like 17% and then back to 99% and etc. It does this like every two or three seconds, and it's taken the standard write time of about ten minutes, to over an hour. Does anyone know if this is an issue with the drive or the Nero software? It's driving me nuts, and I can't understand the issue. I can literally hear the drive speed up and slow down as the buffer level makes its jumps. Any info you can provide would be greatly appreciated!!!! As another note, my last Sony did the exact same thing, but after a year and a half of use. When i swapped out the drive to problem went away. . .until yesterday.
sounds like DMA needing to be turned back on. try to fix via this - http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm then post LAST section of your Nero log, which is in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log, but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar
Thanks for the response. to do the DMA fix, does it matter if I have the burner set as the primary or secondary. I believe i currently have it set as the secondary.
I did what was directed, but still no luck. I also completely removed nero and re-installed it, but again no luck. Anybody have any thoughts?
