I use dvd+r and have read that Hitachi is the best to get. I googled it and found some decent prices, and checked ebay, but was wondering if anyone can point me to a site with the best prices.

You are talking about the xbox's DVD drive, right? Samesung is the best. I can play all cd-r's and dvd-r's.

Ok if the samsungs read dvd+r where are they cheap. I just checked ebay and they go for >$40 + shipping, which ain't to cheap. I'll google it but was just hoping maybe someone here might know a good place to get the dvd drive I need.

Well I guess zyw and I are from an older scene. As the Samsungs' is known to the best DVD-ROM Drive (e.g. v1.0 to v1.5), Which include the Thompson, Philips & Samsung.

I think Microsoft started useung Hitachi with the newer v1.6a/b XBOX™. Therefore I can't comment on it. It could well be the next Samsung. But only the Samsung is known to be able to read CD-R's. Which both the Philips and Thompson can not do...
