I am copying lots of footage off my old camcorder using Windows Movie Maker (to .avi files).
I am eventuially encoding them , and burning using Nero, but want to make a backup of the files I have created using WMM, in case of a need in the future , and to save me trawling it all off my camera again. These seem to be very large files , a couple bigger than 4 mb.
If I use Nero backup to copy these files to DVD ,and select the 'compress' option, if I have to restore them onto my pc will I lose any of the quality of original footage of the film ?

    Thanks in advance.

If space is a concern, just keep the avis.
