Ok folks, probably a really daft question and I thought it would be so easy to find an answer online for it but aparently its not.

Are MiniDV's re-recordable and if the answer is no then what would be the best medium to use for re-recording. I'm not wanting to constantly have to buy new media, ideally I want to record something, transfer to pc then burn onto DVD's myself. I've never owned a digital camcorder as yet so this will be my first step into the filming world.

Got a budget of about £300 so can't go to crazy with camera spends or I'd have gone for new JVC 30Gb......Mmmm, nice :)

    Anyway, cheers in advance

Yes, just like audio tape, you can re-record miniDv tapes.
But just like audio tapes, the quality will slowly deteriorate with every re-use.

Ok, thanks for the quick reply. Think it'll definately be a MiniDV format camera that I buy :)

    Cheers,
