I've got an interesting problem I can't seem to solve. I'm trying to backup an oldie > Mannequin > I've used DVD shrink, the latest and last version, DVD decrypter, clone DVD 3.5 and verfied the media........keeps making coasters with it. It plays on power dvd just fine, but my Sony that plays EVERYTHING keeps coming up with C:13:00 error........I've made at least 10 coasters ripping it twice, one to rip another............nothing works. I'm using memorex DVD +R material and I've made over 15 today all perfect in every way.............

If I hit the "DVD menu" it goes right to the menu and I can select chapter 1 and it plays all the way through no issues. Only screws up when I first put in the drive.

    Its pissing me off..........ideas?

Since powerdvd is playing it perfect, looks like that sony player doesn't like something about that backup. All those backups are probably ok. Try them on some other stand alone players and confirm their results. Also try burning them at their slowest speed:2.4x and give them a try.

Are you using the same dvd-rw drive that burned those discs,to view them through powerdvd?

    Memorex +R!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Usually poor quality manufacturers make their media, like CMC-Magnetics. This would be the first thing to change. Try some better media. Staples has fuji and Office depot have their brand name 50 Packs spindles-riteks, this week. Try picking up a 30 pack of fuji at staples for $8.94,and majority of them are ty's.

I've verified all the ones recorded today and they work perfectly. I have over 200 using this brand, its really weird with this one title.

All of my standalones don't want to hear it, but both computers and laptop plays it normally.

I thought it was the media also, but I've tried other media and those fail as well. I think those were TDK's if memory serves.

All the drive firmware is up to date as well from RPC1 forums......nothing beta.

    Kind of kooky.......:(

I've had this happen to me recently with an older dvd as well (Jackie Chan's "Armour of God"). Used DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink, burned with Ritek RiData 4x dvd-r and no errors according to both proggies. My set top reads it, but when I get to the menu and hit the "Play" button all I get is the "DVD" default screen from the player. Ejected, reinserted and selected Chapter 1, played flawlessly.

I know this doesn't help, but sometimes, you just have to cut your losses and be thankful of what you do have.

    Good Luck!
