The ritek g05 mid code media that I know of for sure,on local on sale media:

Maxell dash 8x gold tops that say on the label: Made in Taiwan. On sale at local stores like office depot and staples for 35-40 cents apiece. The japanese gold tops are made by hitachi:MXL-RG03.Also very good.

Office depot brand dash 8x media. On sale this week, buy 1 50 pack spindle for $35 and get 2 spindles free. That's around 25 cents apiece. Their last sale was for 28 to 30 cents apiece. That current sale is a heck of a low price.

I just spent my wad on fuji tys at staples for 30 cents apiece.Another great price for ty-g02 and Yuden000-T02 fujis. Both these are made in japan.

If ordering off the net,try rima/supermediastore/meritline/americal.com

Ritek R03: Very good taiwanese media. It's the MID code on maxell +8x,made in taiwan. It's also on the Office depot +8x brand media. I just burned 300 of those office depot 8x and only 1 bad playback coaster. There's a sale this week on them as well at Office depot.

Verbatim MCC-003: Excellent quality media, produced in taiwan. These are the 8x verbatim plus format on both full hub printable and non printable verbatim data life plus! These are another of my favorite, especially the full hub inkjet printables.Between the verbatim data life plus and taiyo yuden, they feature the Metal Azo dye which is some of the best.

I'm not sure what you mean here:

    @ spidervik
is that an OEM drive or did you buy it seperate. there is a later firmware for that drive, i think. i have the same drive, but its an OEM, i have not flashed mine. i have BPSA f/w still, but it works with all media so far.
