Converting anamorphic PAL to NTSC

#1 29 Sep 2005 @ 10:01
There's a video file I have to convert from 25.0 fps, resolução 704:288 onto a compatible size NTSC. The original uses a Divx codec, but the program I am using (Procoder 1.5) seems to handle it.

The problem is I can't find a way to convert it, probably because of the different anamorphic ratios for NTSC and PAL.

On other times I faced a similar problem, the original PAL file was 16:9, so when doing the PAL AVI to NTSC MPEG conversion I could get to the right ratio. That is the 2.44 or so original file came to its original proportion.

I am trying different combinations, even modifying pixel shapes, but I don't know if that is the wrong way to go about it.

Any suggestions on how to handle files like this?

I ended up finding the solution myself, looking for past mails at the Procoder forum.

It turned out the way out was changing the PAL pixel aspect ratio onto 16:15, which provided the right cropping and format.

Thanks!
