I have connected my dv camcorder to my pc via a firewire cable. I have used interwin dvd creator and nero vsion express to capture the footage. When the camera is connected and I want to start capturing the footage, on interwin I cannot see any video or audio on the pc screen but on nerovision i can see the video but not the audio.

After I have captured what i want to avi format and playback te file in windows media player i cannot hear any audio. I have used gspot to see if i am missing any codecs but it says there are no audio channels present in the avi file. but when i capture the footage to mpeg format it is fine there is both audio and video present.

Can anyone help me out. Thanks in advance.

In order to find out if this is a problem with your software or the settings that you use, try one of these very simple freeware capture tools which don't mess with the streams coming in.
You will find a couple of these freeware tools here:

    I would recommend WinDV.
