Hello! I have some problems with my DVD burner. I only get 0.7x-1x write speed, and it is a 8x burner. First three times I used it I got full write speed. Anyone know what might cause this? Another thing, I burned one of my movies and it lagged alot after I had seen about 1 hour(using my dvd player). I took a little break and continued watching without any lagg. Anyone know what might cause this? I'm using a Sony DVD+-RW DW-D56A 8x
it could be a number of things firstly answer these questions 1.what software are you using 2.what are you burning iso/video ts 3.if using nero post burn log 4.what media are you using,hint do not buy cheap media. when burning a dvd 4x is the max you should burn,slower the burn the less chance of coasters,and where possible always burn from hdd never disk to disk,and make sure all other apps. are closed.check target size normally 4350,eliminates burning to close to the edge of the disc,thus less bad burns,and invest in a couple of rw until you are up and running and confident you are comfortable using your burning software correctly.
thanks for answer 1. I am mainly using DVD Shrink. Sometimes DVD Decrypter 2. I am trying to copy a DVD. It creates an image file on HD before burning. 3. Using sony dvd-r 8x plates.. Max speed I get is 0.7x-1x.
To check and set DMA to 'on' (copying from an earlier post): "Follow These Steps in WindowsXP 1) Right click the My Computer icon on the desktop and click Properties. 2) Select the Hardware page and click the Device Manager button. 3) Locate the Primary and Secondary IDE Channels, and double click on the one your hard-drive is connected to (usually the Primary IDE Channel). 4) Open the Advanced Settings page on the IDE Channel Properties window that appears. 5) Click the Transfer Mode dropdown box and select "DMA if available". 6) Click on the OK button to confirm the changes. 7) That's it, you've just enabled DMA. Depending on the number of devices you have on your system, it could be useful to do this on the Secondary IDE Controller as well, and to both devices on each of them. Alternatively, if you find your drive is locked in PIO mode it is simply a matter of uninstalling the appropriate controller in Device Manger by right clicking on it and selecting uninstall and then rebooting a couple of times and it will then have been reset to DMA mode. Most DVD drives are UDMA2 or similar"
hi also check aspi layer and maybe update motherboard chipset drivers also if you reboot your pc can you write full speed again?
Ok it is already "DMA if available", on both primary and secondary. And I've tried uninstalling them and rebooting without any luck.
hi use either dvd identifier or dvdonfo pro or dvd decrypter to tell us the id codes of the disc you are useing?.
