Bad Codec, Audio Only in WMP10 - DESPERATELY NEED HELP

I've been using ratDVD for a while on my media center PC with no problems. But I am about to go on a trip (20+ hours of flying) and for the first time am trying to play .ratdvd files on my laptop.

The files were all encoded using constant quality and play fine on my desktop.

When I try to open the files on my laptop, Windows Media Player attempts to download the correct codec and somehow there is an error in the process. Media Play displays a black screen and repeats through the first 30 seconds or so of the audio on the DVD while the Now Playing bar says "Song: THE_DVDS_FILE_NAME_HERE".

I've uninstalled and re-installed RatDVD, windows Media Player 10 and the DirectX 9.0C Runtime but it has not solved the problem. Does anyone know what I can do?

I've also tried playing the same file on my laptop using Media Player Classic and receive the following error:

"Media Player Classic could not render some of the pins in the graph, you may not have the needed codecs or filters installed on the system.

The following pin(s) failed to find a connectable filter:
XEBDSP::Video Out"

Then there is a box below that that a bunch more technical looking information...

Below that I can have Media Player Classic look for codecs online but it fails to find any matching codec in their database...

 

I have downloaded a torrent file labeled "All the codecs you will ever need" I can attempt to forward the file to you, or you can retrieve it youreslf.

Go to www.torrentspy.com and do a search for "codec" it'll be the first one that pops up. I downloaded in 10 minuntes on a dial up with my laptop at the airport. Great codecs included!

 

Thanks, but the codec named by Media Player Classic is included in the RatDVD install pack so it should be on my machine...

I have exactly the same problem as chrisoc! RatDVDs do not play in any player, only the sound works fine on some players. But not on a single player I have a picture. Encoding and decoding ratdvds works fine by the way.

Media player classic (my standard player) says: "The following pin(s) failed to find a connectable filter: XEBDSP::Video Out"

I have a standard system and only Xvid/DivX, Real+Quicktime-Alternative, fddshow filters and some auio codecs installed. Further I have WinDVD + Nero on the system. Never had any problem with video playback...

Anyone out there who could fix that problem?

I have checked the file with Rat Attack butit could not find any errors.

Any idea would be very welcome

 

Good luck. I've never gotten it to work and the only suggestion people have had is to do a fresh re-install of windows...

I have made a big step ahead. The key was "hardware acceleration" of my GF 6600 graphics card.

Hardware acceleration was on low, because my projector wouldn't display XviD and DivX-Movies. The projector runs as clone on the second graphics port.

After putting hardware acceleration to maximum, several ratdvds are running now! (Although it is not really stable and single ratdvds still don't run at all).

The videos won't be displayed on the cloned image on the projector. Dual screen mode though does the trick, i.e. ratdvds (and Xvids, too) are displayed correctly.

I hope I can help some of you with this information.

Me too, I had the described problems.
Media player classic said: "The following pin(s) failed to find a connectable filter: XEBDSP::Video Out"
and so on.

Reason was:
I had installed WinXP without the hardware-specific video driver
of my notebook (Gericom Hummer Advance).
WinXP installed its (generic?) driver which worked acceptably.
With this generic driver and a DVD player software, I was able
to play DVDs (from DVD media). So the display quality was OK for me.

After reading Hildegart's "big step ahead" posting, me too,
I searched for the solution in the video driver.
I downloaded the drived from Gericom and installed it.
After a reboot, wonderfully, my ratDVD files play well
in both WMP and Media Player Classic.

I have a very Similar problem. I can hear the audio in zoomplayer, Windows media player, and media player. I can't see any video. The media player gave me this error::

Failed to query the needed interfaces for DVD Playback

Please could someone help? although i suspect that this forum may not be too alive :-(
