thought id try once more to ask for help with a problem i have with updating nero, i got an update cd from nero themselves , tried to update nero and windows demanded to be reactivated within three days! apparently on a few forums i have found im not alone with this problem , although nero themselves cant help me with a solution, so ive given up! threw in the towel! if i update my pc needs reactivation if i dont its fine so ive left it alone as nobody seems to be able to tell me why windows is causing me such grief so I appeal to all you more experienced xp users any ideas to resolve this, thanks

Are you saying you purchased Nero in a store, tried to install it and now XP requires reactivation?
Could you be more specific of the circumstances and at what point during the update that Windows asks to be reactivated?
I understand that migrating XP to a new PC will cause this behavior or making substantial hardware changes to an existing PC, but not from a software installation, unless perhaps, there is a hardware change involved?
Is contacting Micro$oft out of the question? ;)

sorry for the long delay in replying ive been offline for sometime my apologies! briefly i bought an oem version of nero, i then as i could afford it added the various plugins and upgraded to a full version , i then purchased an upgrade cd from nero directly as i am on a dial up and 15hrs or so wasnt an option to upgrade the versions i had to the latest cd burning engine etc, i proceeded to install the updates from the cd , after installing the second one i was prompted by a dialog box which said there have been major changes to the system since xp was installed do you want to reactivate windows and added 3 days to do so! so i promptly declined and re installed my pc from a ghost backup all was back to normal , if i again tried to update nero the same dialog re appeared!this infuriated me immensely as you can imagine, i have had a really bad time with microsoft updates ie i cant have them anymore so i was thinking perhaps its because i dont have all the patches on my pc,i have just got my pc working , again i found a ghost backup and built my system back up from it , my externa\l drives freecom worked fine but if i put august onward updates on my pc died! i have been battling between microsoft and nero and getting nowhere, i at the moment have a pc that functions in a fashion an achievement for a newbie given the trouble ive experienced , i did find a similar case on another well known forum where a guy had experienced exactly the same problem with nero, i also was tols in an email from microsoft that my problems with updates causimng external drives i own not to work was a microsoft issue but thats as much help as i got, in summary i threw in the towel! being grateful that i could at least process photos and burn cds well anything was better than a frozen screen and a pc that did nothing any ideas about the reactivation problem as nero cant help
