Hello, all! I've got a DVD9 on my hard drive in "file mode." My question is: can I burn the files using NERO and have it recognize where the layer break goes? I know the proper way to do this is with DVD Decrypter in .ISO mode with the all important .MDS file--but a VIDEO TS folder (with the files in it) is all I have of this particular DVD9. Is there a way to ensure the layer break will occur where it should.
Supergloo Welcome to aD! The video_ts folder should have an .ifo file which contains the info about the video. You should be fine just opening this folder and burning.
Thanks for the welcome, binkie7. Just curious--if the .ifo has the layer break info on it and NERO can read it, why does everyone say you should only use a .MDS file of an .ISO burning with Decrypter? I'm just trying to avoid a dual layer coaster.
The .mds basically tells the software what to burn and contains the layer break info - the .ifo tells the dvd how to read the disc. I've only done two dl discs - both w/ Nero burning the video_ts folder. From what I've read people have better luck with the decrypter .mds method than Nero. The 2 I did will play on 2 of my standalones but not the others. The older standalones are more picky with this type of disc. Another reason I stopped my experiment at 2 - too costly. I'm sticking with the compression to single layer for now.
