After copying a DVD is there a simple method to verify that you have made a clean copy? Sometimes I use DVD Shrink to do a quick analysis---if DVD Shrink reads it the copy usually plays without a problem. But DVD Shrink doesn't always do the fast analysis and slips into a 15 or 20 min. analysis mode which I don't have the patience to wait for........any suggestions?
Hello mgrace47, First of all selecting the analysis mode in Shrink has nothing to do with checking your backed up copy of your movie. This is simply doing an anlysis of your original files to better copy them to your disk and it has different times for doing this depending on how much compression is on your movie. I would recommend you let Shrink do the deep analysis on all your movies so you will get the best copy possible. Now if you want to check your disk after burning there are several tools out there for that process. If you have Nero you can use the Nero info tool located in the Nero Tools folder. You can also use a free proggy called DVD Info Pro. IMO the best method for checking your disk is to simply watch it especially near the end of the movie That is where most problems arise. Cheers
Thank you. All of my problems usually arise at the end...that's why I stick with 4x burning. I have been doing quick spot checks by scanning the last couple of chapters as you suggested. I"ll check out Nero--which I have. Thanks for the tip.
The problem being towards the end of your disk's probably means you aren't using the best media in the world. This can be overcome though by changing the target size in DVD Shrink to something like 4300MB. This can be done under the prefferences in Shrink. Cheers
I use only Ridata media--thought that was among the best quality. Am I wrong? Also, would you please explain the target six function in DVD Shrink--what does the do and how does it affect the quality of the burn. Finally, over the past few months, I've started to create and burn only ISO files. Does it make a difference? Thanks for your time and patience.
