DVDSCRs downloaded from the Net are generally regionfree (region 0) and some standalone dvdplayers are designed to reject regionfreed dvds. Sony's are known for this.

anyway, the DVDScrs are coming up in AnyDVD as Region 0 cause thats what AnyDVD does - removes /bypasses your dvdroms regioncode setting. Thats why they'll play in your dvdrom and Xbox. Just play em thru your Xbox via SVideo out to your tv. Unless you feel like reripping the DVDSCRs and manually setting the regioncode via DVDDecryptor,CloneDVD.

The only dvd's I play in my standalones are all region free copies. The older DVD player however does not recognize the +r format. Does your standalone play both formats -/+? That may be your problem.
Another could be your standalone not liking the brand of discs you used. Which ones did you use? Burn speed?

i have over 200 dvd+r and dvd-r they all play except for the 3 screeners this girl sent me. when i put the disk in i get an error message that says area prohibited. i tried reburning on my own high quality disks at a slow speed . speed disks or dvd-r or + plus has nothing to do with it..

    - there's ya problem, the sultry and very cheeky Angelina Joile's on a data dvd and not in proper dvd format. you need to convert them via something such as divxtodvd

Area prohibited error means your player doesnt like regionfree dvds. same message you'd get if you tried to play a Region 2 DVD in a Region 1 DVD player. you either hafta to regionfree your dvd player via a firmware hack / code OR set a regioncode for the DVDSCRs DVDR. which involves reripping em and setting the regioncode, reburning.
