I can successfully rip, shrink, and burn a dvd but can't play isos. Do I need a codec or what do i need to do to play it on a stand alone dvd player.
Windows Media player v6.4.** plays ISO files on my PC. As for playing them on a DVD player, you will need a DVD Burner and a Blank DVDR, (I recommend Sony or Fujifilm DVD+R 8x made in Japan). Use your burning software to burn the DVD from the ISO. If you do not have burning software, use DVD Decrypter in Mode=>ISO=>Write.
I have also burned IFOs and they can play on a stand alone DVD player but not my computer. What is going on.
An IFO is just an information file. It is basically just instructions for the DVD Player. You can edit IFOs, but it will only change playback behavior of the DVD. I do not know if the newer Windows media players or DVD software will play an ISO on a PC. The one I use is the one that comes with Windows 2000. I think Windows XP also has this media player. If you have the DVD folder, or at least all of the dvd files in 1 directory, you can use IFOEdit to play the DVD. Just open an IFO with it and press "DVD play".
