I've done a ton of searching and have tried just about every tool I could get my hands on, but haven't been able to make this work.

I would like to rip a DVD to a media file (avi is preferred, but I'm not that picky) while preserving the AC3 5.1 Dolby Digital (or DTS in some cases). Every tool I've tried can either dump the AC3 to a separate file or downmixes the AC3 into stereo. If there's an answer out there somewhere, a link would be very appreicated.

dvd decrypter, dvd shrink & nero
in shrink it will give you your oprtions to save or dump what you want, then with nero, you can burn your selected files.
