I've been trying to make a back-up of the movie mind hunters and I keep getting read errors. I've tried any dvd, dvd decrypter, dvd shrink, and xcopy platinum. Anybody have any suggestions.
Are you sure that the DVD does not have a defect , scratch or anthing on it? I just finished with Mind Hunters but I do not record from my computer anymore. I went out and bought an ILO recorder and Go-DVD and record that way. I find it to be much easier and I can use my computer and watch any channel on the TV while copying. Probably not much of a help to you.., but there are other alternatives that seem much easier, less time consuming, and have less problems associated with them. Have you tried Any-DVD? there is a free download available thru the newsletter this mth. It sounds like it works very well from all I've read about it. I'd give it a try after cleaning the mind Hunters DVD.
Try to clean the disc carefully with o cotton cloth, not wet, this eliminates most of the times the crc errors in case that the original is not already damaged. Avoid to use cleaning discs to your writter because the damage is irreversible. In any other case there will be an hw/sw protection item.
CloneDVD 2 with anydvd ..backs up the movie fine download and try the 21 day free trial ,remember to use good blank media as in Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim and burn at 4X max. heres a guide to use the program http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/index.html
I think it is a bad dvd. I see some scratches on it. I'll give another try later and let you know what happened. Thanks
Decrypter is a good ripper for 'bad' discs. Another good ripper to try also - dvd fab decrypter -kinda decrypter replacement. Here's a guide for those hard to rip ones: http://www.dvdplusvideo.com/petesguide9.html
I backed up Mindhunters using AnyDVD and DVD Shrink. Mindhunters was released by Dimension. I thought Dimension was owned by Disney, not Sony?
o i see, i saw the box in the shop and i saw Sony. i'll edit the Columbia bit, cheers, thought it was worth a heads up..
@jdk5197 Mind Hunters is nothing special, DVD Decrypter can handle this smoothly. I ripped it using Mode, File F flawlessly into my hard drive, have Nero Recode 2 encode and backed up with Nero Burning Rom. ((NOTE: in prior to “decrypt or rip” the original movie, take a few seconds to check the few following “settings” on DVD Decrypter.)) ** open up DVD Decrypter, go to Tools, and Settings ** at General “Removal Method” arrow down to “Aggressive” ** at I/O check “Ignore Read Errors” ** at CSS check “Brute Force à I/O key exchange, On Failure: use key from another file [YES] ** at ISO Write Mode, check “Enable BURN-Proof ** at “ISO Read Mode” and “File Mode” check/tick on all of the Remove, Ignore, Patch and Create MDS file Try the above settings and please post the failure or successful log from DVD Decrypter - this will help other members help you better.
@alkohol, cheers buddy, i'll make a note of that for when i get mindhunters, glad to know that decrypter will sail thru it doing it that way, cheers
