Black or White Ipod Video??

If anyone wants to know, it will be better to get the black Ipod video because it will make the picture look better. White has a tendency to trick your eyes and wash out some of the picture. Dont believe me? Seen any white tv sets? It will be better on the colors if you choose the black one although the white one is cool too. Just make sure you get a good case!

BTW- If you go to your local office supply store you can buy those little PDA screen protectors and they will work great for covering the screen.

I've heard a lot of bull in my time, but come on! the colour of the ipod has no reflection whatsoever on the 'picture'...and if it does, it's hardly enough to justify getting a different colour one, not on a titch screen like that...

Ever heard of the Imaging Science Foundation? No? Well then I guess before you say something is not correct check out the facts. According to them the color of the stucture that surrounds the picture has alot to do with the way the eye can see colors. If you have a white case the blacks and greyscale wash out and can produce artifacts in the picture while the overall sharpness can suffer. For the best picture quality you need to have a dark grey or black enclosure to ensure that the blacks and greyscale is correct.

This is a direct quote from Steve Dela who is considered to be one of the top dogs in the industry:

Closing Comment on the Eye
The eye is not a perfect machine thus the reason for a sensor. But the sensor isn't perfect either. Below 20-IRE most sensor measurements should be avoided. The sensors are not able to see low luminance light and in addition, outside light will virtually corrupt any real measurement even if it could. Grayscale calibration is best complete using both the eye and a sensor. What's interesting is that our eye sees variations of color extremely well and in most cases, better than sensors. But it does not see details in color very well. In addition, the eye sees detail in black and white extremely well, but not variations in black & white. For example, when viewing the 100-IRE (white) window, you can literally double the output (12000K) and not really notice much of a difference in brightness.

Oh, dont know what all that means? Then I guess you should bite me loud mouth.

I agree. Frankly, the white distracts my eyes from the video. It literally hurts my eyes.

Hi, im about to trade in my 20gig photo for the new one. Just wondering if the front of the video ipod is made of the same material used on nano?
#12 22 Oct 2005 @ 7:14
Okay guys, if you own and ipod and its white, then we all know how easy it is to get it strach if you dont have a case, you could just have it in your pocket, and the next time you look at it a new strach appears. So if you dont own a case, or just like to keep your ipod out the case to show it off or something i suggest getting a black ipod. Therefor the straches want appear on them as much as the with one.

I wish i would of thought of this befor i ordered one!

auctually he is not lying i just saw a apple ipod nano at the local apple store and i found out that the white is a real pain in the a*** becuase the screen ends up with tons of glare from the white while the black one sitting next to it didn't have any and i could see everything

so there is some truth to this not a hole lot of truth but some very conveincing findings
#16 25 Oct 2005 @ 2:58
You know what though? Apple has a knack for making their colors shiny. So even if you get black, you get some glare. Thats why im just getting some type of skin for it, a flat skin.
#17 25 Oct 2005 @ 11:11
no offence to any1, but why get it, i mean, are u seriously going to sit on the bus and watch a movie, why get a psp aswell? you could use that for the same thing realy and play games. im not getting any of them, the psp will be like the gameboy, and ipods suck (no offence 2 ipod lovers) i just dont see why every1 gets it because of the name, rather than getting a zen touch for example, the ipod mini has 6gb, zen 20gb, ipod mini costs £180, zen costs £140. and who cares what it looks like, its in your pocket most of the time.

this is the reason i posted == my m8 has a white tv, and the picture is very nice

I don't know, i mean, i really love movies, but i dont like the hassle of dvd players sometimes. So i figure that i could just get the Ipod Video and hold it all in my pocket. Ive been waiting for something like that.

I Don't really like the psp because they are focusing more on UMD Films than games. It's a little sad.

But as for ipod video, i like it.

I have a second generation ipod mini and a panasonic d-snap which is a camera, voice recorder, takes mini video clips, and is an mp3 player with a 1gb sd card that I've purchased. I would like to sell these 2 devices for a 30GB white iPod Video. Does any1 know where I can sell them except ebay?
#20 09 Nov 2005 @ 13:10
You could probably fetch JUST ENOUGH by pawn shop i think. I prefer that than Ebay.
#21 10 Nov 2005 @ 12:23
Hey Guys,

I just bought the new Ipod Video in white. Even though I loved the Ipod Nano in black the black video ipod didn't really do it for me. Also I have the new Imac computer which is white so I guess I just wanted it to match, I don't know....I am still not sure which one I should settle with...what do you guys think? Looking at the picture posted, should I buy the black Ipod video?

Here's the link for the pic: http://www.neowin.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=388728&pid=586786...

How's the screen size on The iPod Video? To small? perfect? Is the Picture/video quality clear and is it too long in length and width?

-Thanks
#25 11 Nov 2005 @ 6:24
Hey I'm gonna try to answer all 3 questions (If I forget any, let me know)
The screen size is just perfect, I am ripping movies from my DVD collection using Handbreak (its free), it usually takes 500 MB and the picture quality is awesome. So the screen is a perfect size.
The JBL Creature speakers are great. I had a problem with the first one I bought though, it sounded like it had no bass. I was about to return and just buy new speakers, till I found out it was defective. Never had any problems with these since. I love these speakers (they are as good as the bose computer speakers companion3).
The case it comes with is made of white sued, and the good thing is, you can use the wheel when it is inside the case ( I don't know if it is made for that, but it works for me)...
