I'm using winxp pro sp1, wmp 10. I download a video file in ratDVD format. In ratDVD website, it said that "The normal windows media player without any plug-ins allows full ratDVD playback incl. navigation - just like the original DVD.". However I opened the file and wmp generated illegal instruction error. Then I use media player classic downloaded from the link provided by ratDVD website. No help Should I install some codecs or filter in order to play this format ?
I have found that you need to install RatDVD be able to play those files on Windows Media Player, even though the web pages says if will play natively. I found out the hard way when I took a pile of RatDVD format movies on a trip, assuming that they would play on my laptop without any software other than a codec pac and WMP 10. Also, as I have posted in another thread, once you install RatDVD, you can no longer play regular DVDs in WMP 10... a bit of a problem for me, since I like RatDVD and have annointed WMP 10 as my media player. Either something has to be fixed or something has to go.
