    I have burnt 40 DVDs with DVDshrink and DVDdecryper and all of a sudden I can't get them to work. The Dvd's play in my computer but won't play in my DVD player. I have used DVD-R disks and had no problems until now. What should I try. I never installed Nero when I installed Shrink and Decrypter, but I never had any problems until now. Any help would be appreciated.

    perhaps your standalone dvd player does not like the brand/quality of dvd-r that you are currently using, if i may ask, what kind is it?

    not ALL standalone players will play everything that you burn on your computer, of course, MANY of the new players will play all the various formats, BUT, if the quality of the media (used in the backup) is subpar or poor, your standalone will have a MUCH MORE difficult time reading/playing it than your computer...standalone dvd players are MUCH more picky than your computer's dvd-rom drive or dvd burner drive~ :)

    let us know

    docTY~

    let's have LAST section of your Nero log which lives in c:\program files\ahead\nero\nerohistory.log but DO NOT post your serial number which usually begins with '1A21' or similar. You can differentiate sections via this section divider "====== *** Nero-Burning Rom, History File *** ======"

    first of all - exactly what my buddy kivory666 said!. i just wanted the logfile to see if anything else needs tweaking...and/or if there's any clues in there...

    - firmware's up to date

    - most ppl recommend 4x for movies (kivory666 does 8x, i don't but i know he's a burning fiend so is happy with his burn speeds, plus he uses the best dvd media (TY)).

    - i'll let kivory666 comment on the Maxell, i don't use them so i'd only be guessing or copy/pasting (or both lol)

    - that's Roxio, which doesn't always play well with Nero. try uninstalling Roxio but you may need to google search for 'Roxio Zapper' to fully remove Roxio..

    Yes I used Decryper for the good burns, my standalone player is a JVC XV-521.

    "I have burnt 40 DVDs with DVDshrink and DVDdecryper and all of a sudden I can't get them to work."

    My personal (limited) experience is that discs burned with Decrypter gives me better scans than Nero.

    Seems odd that the standalone would turn it's nose up at all 40 disks, unless there is something really wrong with it.

    Sorry, i must clarify myself. The problem isn't with the DVD's already burnt, I can't get Decrypter to burn any more movies. I've tried about 8 different ones and they all go through the burn saying it was successfull but they won't play. The first 40 still play in my standalone player.
