Hi guys, I've followed the steps given here: http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/convert_avi_to_dvd.cfm and have all the programs it recommends but when I convert the AVI file there is no sound on the much large MPEG file. What's going on? Also the AVI file is about 700mb in size but unless I cut out the beginning and ending credits I can't fit it in a DVD-R. The movie is only 1Hr. 35Mins. long. How do I "Shrink" it correctly so it will fit on the DVD-R WITH sound and still play on my DVD player? I just bought my first DVD burner and it came with Nero Express 2.0 if this info. helps out.
I would recommend a program called Ulead Moviefactory, it will take any video format (AVI, MPG, VOB) and will do the following: 1) Convert to DVD format (VOB) 2) Create menus for you (They are actually pretty nice) You can pick the background and add sound and stuff. 3) Burn the DVD for you so it will play in a standalone player. It's a really awesome program! Very powerful yet very easy to use, has a nice GUI. Give that a shot it might be alot easyer.... Let me know how it works out.
Alternatively, try convert the avi into dvd compliant format with VSO DivxToDVD (free version), then burn with e.g. Nero Recode (it would compress to fit automatically if the outputs are over the capacity of a regular dvd): http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_encoders/vso_divxtodvd_free.cfm Happy dvd burning!
